Acceptable Use Policy
The rules for using Shipbell and for posting on boards: what is not allowed, how to report a problem, and what we do when the rules are broken.
Last updated
In short
- Use Shipbell to collect and answer feedback about your own products.
- No illegal content, phishing, malware, spam or harassment.
- Do not use a board to pretend to be another brand.
- Email only people who used your product, and only as Shipbell allows.
- Do not scrape, overload or attack the service.
- If the rules are broken, we may remove content, suspend accounts and report to the authorities.
Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to everyone who uses Shipbell: our customers and their team members, and everyone who posts on a board or sends content through an app that uses Shipbell. It is part of our Terms of Service. Customers are responsible for making sure their apps and boards follow it.
Content that is not allowed
Do not post, upload, send or link to:
- illegal content, or content that promotes or helps illegal activity;
- anything that sexually exploits or endangers children;
- phishing, scams or fraud, including content that asks people for passwords, payment details or other credentials;
- viruses or other harmful code, or links to them;
- spam, such as unwanted bulk or repeated posts, comments or votes, or posts that promote something unrelated to the product;
- harassment, threats, bullying, or hate against a person or a group;
- content that infringes someone else's intellectual property, privacy or other rights, including personal details of other people shared without their permission;
- false or misleading content meant to deceive people in a way that can harm them.
Boards, names and brands
- Create a board or a developer page only for a product or business you own or may represent.
- Do not use a board, its address, name, logo or colours to pretend to be another brand, company or person, or to suggest a connection that does not exist.
- Do not choose a misleading board address, for example one that imitates a well-known brand, or a sign-in or payment page.
- Use boards for feedback about your product. Do not use them for unrelated purposes, such as sharing files, advertising or sending visitors to other sites.
- Shipbell emails people who interacted with your product: people who used your app or board, sent a report or an idea, voted, commented, followed an item or asked for updates. Do not add people to Shipbell just to email them.
- Do not create end users, for example through the API or with posts on someone's behalf, for people who have not interacted with your product.
- Announce new apps only for your own apps, and only to the people who use your other apps. Respect every opt-out.
- Do not try to get around unsubscribes, delivery blocks or sending limits, and do not use Shipbell for general marketing or newsletters beyond what the product offers.
- If email from your projects causes too many bounces or spam complaints, we may pause your email sending automatically.
Personal and sensitive data
- Collect only the personal data you need, and tell your end users about it.
- Do not use Shipbell to collect passwords, payment card numbers, government ID numbers or health data, and do not send them in diagnostics, context or user details.
- Keep secret API keys and signing keys on your servers, never in apps, web pages or public code repositories.
Security and the service itself
- Do not access, or try to access, data, workspaces or boards that are not yours.
- Do not get around sign-in, access rules, plan limits or rate limits.
- Do not collect data from boards or the API in bulk by automated means, except for your own data through the API as documented, and search engines indexing public boards in the normal way.
- Do not overload the service, for example with floods of requests, and do not interfere with how it works.
- Do not probe, scan or test the security of Shipbell without our written permission. To report a security issue, write to info@shipbell.app.
Reporting a problem
- Content on a board: use the Report button next to the item, or the Report content form linked at the bottom of every board page. You do not need to sign in.
- Other misuse of Shipbell, such as spam or a misleading board: write to info@shipbell.app.
What we do when this policy is broken
- We may remove or hide content, or ask the customer to remove it.
- We may stop a user from posting, take a board offline, pause email sending, revoke API keys, or suspend or close a workspace.
- What we do depends on how serious the problem is and whether it happens again.
- Where we can, we tell the customer first and give them a chance to fix the problem. We act without notice when the harm is serious or the law requires it.
- When content is removed or restricted, its author is told the reason by email, where we have their email address.
- We may report illegal activity to the authorities, and we share information with them when the law requires it.
- If you think we made a mistake, write to info@shipbell.app.
